I has the intarwebs

This is my first blog post. I decided that this would be the best way to keep in touch with all of my friends back home without having to annoy you with periodic mass e-mails. This way, you can read the posts you want, and don't read the ones you don't. If you should choose to not read any of them, then I promise my feelings won't be hurt. If you do read them, though feel free to leave me a comment from time to time.

I just arrived in Atlanta several days ago and I just got my internet connection this evening. I would've taken care of blogging/e-mails earlier, but my internet usage was limited to Emily and I sharing her computer while hijacking the wi-fi at our local neighborhood Krystal.

I've been here for almost a week now, so I've only had the time to form a couple of first impressions of our new home. Luckily, we've completely avoided the city (that is, downtown Atlanta) thus far and it looks like we will be able to completely avoid it unless we decide to go to a show or something. All of the amenities we could possible ask for are with a ten to fifteen drive. That includes Target, Wal-Mart, Publix, Kroger...even a Guitar Center and seven (count 'em seven) Waffle Houses...and counting!!

Since we've been down here, Emily and I have have been taking it pretty easy. We still have plenty of time to start work, so we're taking our time unpacking and spending most of our time exploring our new home city.

Our first priority in Norcross was to find a decent Indian restaurant which is proving a lot more difficult that we both had anticipated. We found one called Hyderabad House, but we were a little put off by the rude server who made mistakes in our order, which he acknowledged and didn't even offer to fix...not to mention the fact that our chicken tikka masala didn't even come with rice...that's like not getting rice with your sweet and sour chicken at a Chinese restaurant. We went to a buffet a couple of days later called Ashiano at Global Mall, which is a small shopping center that has about an 85% Indian patronage. This one was MUCH better, but still no India Mahal. Their rice had cinnamon and clove in it (??) and is that a potato in my goat curry...? No, it's a goat bone...I was somewhat fond of goat meat until then...

Speaking of food, Emily and I have been trying to eat a bit healthier, and Emily needs to get more protein in her diet, so I've been experimenting with cooking tofu. It's been kind of hit or miss so far, but I really liked the strawberry banana tofu smoothies I made this evening. As for "blackened tofu pita sandwiches"...I don't think I'll be trying that recipe again.

I should (hopefully) be starting a job at the UPS distribution center sometime in the next couple of weeks, and I have to go to my placement audition for the Atlanta Institute of Music (AIM) in June, so I'll keep you all posted on that...after the audition, I'll start school on July 2nd.

That's all for now...
